Express your interest – new project to facilitate sharing of ecological information

We are looking for people to get involved by providing feedback and advice on a new project to facilitate information sharing in the ecological community. Our vision is to create an interactive online platform that allows applied ecologists – researchers and practitioners – to browse and search a wide variety of applied ecological content including grey literature reports, journal article summaries, and open access articles.

BES Policy Committee

We are recruiting for a new member of our Policy Committee, for a three-year term.

The Policy Committee guides our work, supporting members to build their skills, develop their careers and enhance the policy impact of their work; communicating the value of ecological knowledge to policymakers; and promoting evidence-informed solutions. Find out more about our work programme.

Members of the Committee are expected to attend three meetings a year at Charles Darwin House, in February, May and October (remote attendance is possible, but attendance in person is required for at least one meeting per year), and to support the policy work of the External Affairs Team throughout the year, mainly via email. Travel expenses will be reimbursed for all meetings.

We value the diversity and wide range of perspectives that people from different backgrounds bring to their work and to ecology, and are committed to equality of opportunity. We would therefore particularly welcome applications from currently under-represented groups in the society.

To achieve an appropriate balance of skills and experience on the Committee, we would particularly welcome applications from members with experience of working in NGOs or government, or working in Wales.

To apply, please send a CV of no more than two pages, and a 1 page statement outlining your interest in the role to Camilla Morrison-Bell, Senior Policy Officer (, by 09:00 on 6 November 2017.

Applications will be reviewed by the Policy Committee. If you would like more information or an informal discussion before making an application, please contact Camilla with any questions you may have.
